Armed Forces Day
May 16
Armed Forces Day, celebrated on the third Saturday in May, honors the men and women serving in the U.S. military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserves). Established in 1949 to unify services, it shows appreciation for active-duty personnel and their sacrifices, distinct from Memorial Day (honors the fallen) or Veterans Day (honors all veterans). The day involves parades, military displays, and encourages public support through flags, thank-yous, and donations.
